Hermes Augusto Costa is a sociologist, Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra (FEUC) and researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES). Since 2008/09, he has been coordinator of the PhD Program in Sociology: Labor Relations, Social Inequalities and Unionism. Between Februray 2020 and April 2024 he was vice-dean of FEUC. Since July 2024 he his cocoordinator of the Phd in Sociology ( Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra). His main areas of research are the processes of globalization and regionalization of trade unionism, European Works Councils and labour relations
