Cristina Pereira Vieira, APS member no. 3105. - Associate Professor with Habilitation at Universidade Aberta - Coordinator Master in Women's Studies: Gender, Citizenship and Development) at Universidade Aberta - Coordinator of the Postgraduate Programme in Youth Studies (DCSG) at Universidade Aberta - Coordinator of the ‘Sexuality and Gender’ thematic section of the Portuguese Sociological Association (APS) Cristina Pereira Vieira holds a PhD in Sociology. She is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Open University (UAb) – where she has been teaching for over 25 years and where she has been developing new areas of study and research topics – including, notably: Sexuality, Gender and Youth... She is a full member of LE@D – the Laboratory for Distance Education and eLearning. She is a collaborating member of CEG / UAb (the Open University’s Centre for Global Studies) and of CIEG/ISCSP-ULisboa (the Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies). Based on the themes of sexuality and gender, she has invested in knowledge of the social reality of sexual identities and their aspects of identities and expressions, risks and vulnerabilities, well-being and health, which has been disseminated in scientific publications (articles, books, book chapters and teaching resources). She participates in different international scientific networks and groups, and is part of research teams in various projects - focusing on models of hegemonic masculinities; perceptions of the economic impact of the unequal sharing of unpaid labour in the lives of immigrant women and men; the life trajectories of LGBTI victims of domestic violence; dating violence and homophobic bullying, in their multiple configurations. Coordinator of the ‘Sexuality and Gender’ thematic section of the Portuguese Sociological Association (APS) In 2022, she was awarded the "Incentive Prize for Scientific Research" by Universidade Aberta - a prize that recognizes excellence in scientific research and production.
